On December 5th and 6th, the Development Team introduced the Juanita Farmhouse Cottages to the community with a Public Groundbreaking Celebration, following the private event attended by key council members on December 2nd. The boutique new construction community consists of nine single-family homes located in Kirkland's popular Juanita neighborhood. The first of its kind, the in-city community represents a new age in homeownership on the Eastside, as Five-Star Green Certification sets a new standard for an eco-friendly luxury lifestyle and sustainable living.
"Despite the wet weekend, we had a successful Groundbreaking Event at the Cottage Site over the weekend as many visitors expressed interest in making reservations," said Val Burmester, the listing agent with Realogics Sotheby's International Realty (RSIR). "Attendees were excited to see all of the floor plans, the Community Barn, and learn more about the developer's vision for this 5-Star Built Green Community."
Attendees visited the special event tent to view packages including the history of the property and spec sheets, along with large floor plans of each cottage and the Community Barn.
Developer Kim Saunders and her partner Michelle were also on site, as Kim welcomed the community and shared her vision, love and connection to the property. The original Farmhouse was built in 1918 and was once a Tulip Farm. Several owners later, Saunders moved in and raised her five children there. Now that the children are grown, Saunders and her partner Michelle wanted to stay in the community and on the land but wanted a smaller footprint and more sustainable life style. Researching other options, they found themselves designing a cottage community on their beloved land.
"The public was excited to see the floor plans and learn more about the Cottages," said Angela Pepka, buyer's agent for the Juanita Farmhouse Cottages. "Visitors especially approved of the fact that the members of the Development Team are Kirkland residents, and are looking forward to seeing the progression as the project moves forward."
Many RSIR brokers were thrilled to learn more about the Cottages, as owners Dean and Stacy Jones came to the site along with brokers Aaron Gazes, Brian Hawkins, and Mei Yang. "We can't wait to see what the future holds for this one-of-a-kind community," said Stacy Jones, Owner of RSIR.
Not only did the community get a chance to learn more about the exciting project, grownups and children alike enjoyed delicious gourmet pizza courtesy of the Dogfather Pizza. As RSIR's Makenzie Pillings, buyer's agent for the development noted, "it made for an awesome and pleasant experience with all of the visitors."
